Community development initiatives empower all members of community to achieve independence and pave the way for a brighter future.
In Egypt, Majid Al Futtaim is making a positive impact in the community by working with non-government organisations, such as Al Yosr Association for Social Services, SETI_Center – Caritas Egypt and Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, to raise awareness about the importance of providing opportunities to youth with special needs, and to help them with their inclusion in society.
Through Carrefour Egypt, Majid Al Futtaim has launched a series of training and development initiatives that empower determined youth to learn, grow and contribute to the country’s private sector.
Carrefour Egypt’s “Together We Can” shop floor internship programme is one such initiative that provides vocational training and practical experience to students with special needs. Delivered in partnership with Al Yosr Association for Social Services, Carrefour Egypt was able to offer internships to 24 children across three stores, giving them the opportunity to interact with staff and customers.
In conjunction with Sawiris Foundation for Social Development and SETI Center – Caritas Egypt, Carrefour Egypt’s “Know Me, Accept Me” initiative is centred around multiple awareness campaigns for various disabilities, providing 500 students across Carrefour Egypt stores in five cities with internships, which will culminate in job opportunities.
In store marketing and social media channels help promote the various initiatives to raise awareness, educate and engage with customers and staff about the types of disabilities impacting youth in Egypt, and the importance of inclusion in society.
Carrefour Egypt is committed to supporting the inclusion of Egypt’s determined youth, with the goal being to provide ongoing opportunities and employment so they may continue to be active members of the community.
