We continually strive to become one of the most sustainable companies in the world. Our long-term target is to produce more energy and water than we consume, reaching a Net Positive business model by 2040. It’s ambitious, but we are confident we will be the first in the region to get there.

In 2021, Majid Al Futtaim Properties’ hotel portfolio adapted to the newest iteration of LEED Platinum Certification and was the first in the region to receive LEED certification across the 13-hotel property portfolio.
In 2017, Majid Al Futtaim made the bold commitment to become Net Positive by 2040, making us the first organisation in the MENA region with such an ambition. In line with this, we also aim to develop an understanding of the embodied carbon in our developments and take measures to reduce emissions where possible.
In 2019, “climate emergency” was declared the word of the year. It was the year where climate change awareness and action sped up at a faster pace than before. Driven by a global social movement and accelerated by the global pandemic, governments and organisations worldwide stepped up their ambitions and committed to becoming net zero
