Majid Al Futtaim and the United Nations Environment Programme Sign Partnership to Advance Sustainable Development Initiatives

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the United Nations Environment Programme to collaborate in areas that will advance sustainable development initiatives and positively impact the environment.  

The partnership concentrates on much-needed efforts to ensure a sustainable future by focusing on developing, implementing and monitoring collaborative activities in several areas including resource and energy efficiency, green building and construction, food waste, sustainability reporting and sustainable development.

The MOU was signed by Alain Bejjani, Chief Executive Officer at Majid Al Futtaim – Holding and H.E. Erik Solheim, United Nations Undersecretary General and Executive Director of United Nations Environment Programme at a signing ceremony held at Majid Al Futtaim Headquarters in Dubai.

UNEP is one of the foremost international bodies dedicated to preserving our environment, we are extremely proud to be partners on this journey. Together, we will collaborate on issues of global importance, while simultaneously moving forward with our environmental commitment to become net positive by 2040.” said Alain Bejjani.

H.E. Erik Solheim, United Nations Undersecretary General and Executive Director of United Nations Environment Programme commented: “There is not a single environmental problem that cannot be solved by innovation.
