VOX Cinemas Takes the Lebanese Cinematic Experience to a Totally New Level

Beirut, Lebanon: Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa is set to continue revolutionising the cinema experience with the introduction of new concepts, never seen before in Lebanon. Following the successful launch of new theatre concepts at Mall of the Emirates in the UAE, VOX Cinemas is poised to introduce innovations to take the Lebanese cinematic experience to a totally new level as it continues to create great moments for moviegoers.

The year 2016 marked the third anniversary of VOX Cinemas’ opening in Lebanon. The dedicated cinema arm of the shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer - Majid Al Futtaim- has maintained its leadership up until today.

Never seen before in Lebanon, VOX Cinemas will introduce 4DX™ and IMAX exclusively in City Centre Beirut, two completely unique and outstanding movie-viewing concepts, expected to make their debut at City Centre Beirut in the summer of 2016. These advanced cinematic technologies will redefine the experience of “going to the movies.”

VOX Cinemas will open the first IMAX theatre in Lebanon that will deliver the world’s most immersive experience. In IMAX, audiences experience a different movie altogether: everything from the movie itself to the theatre’s technology and design was developed and customized to make moviegoers believe they are a part of the action.

IMAX works directly with filmmakers to enhance the movie using its Digital Re-Mastering® process, which delivers superior picture and sound quality. Played through IMAX’s state-of-the art projection system, the resulting images are so lifelike and crystal-clear audiences will forget they are in a theatre.

IMAX grabs moviegoers’ senses. Audiences don’t just hear the powerful sound system; they feel it all around them. Visually, there is no frame. IMAX’s custom theatre design creates a picture that is higher, wider and closer – filling the moviegoer’s peripheral view. It’s not one thing that makes The IMAX Experience but a combination of all these elements. That is the difference between seeing a movie and being part of one.

Instead of simply sitting back and watching a movie, VOX Cinemas’ immersive 4DX™ concept engages all five senses to make audience members feel like they are actually part of the movie. Theatre seats are fitted with multiple motion simulators, perfectly synchronized with the on-screen action. Moviegoers will feel every jolt and tremor along with the characters on the big screen. Specially fitted mechanics around the seats generate effects that mimic the on-screen environment, whether that is mist or rain, a gentle breeze or a turbulent storm with thunder and lightning, explosions, smoke and fog. Finally, bubbles will float through the auditorium creating an atmosphere replete with various smells and aromas representing those within the movie. This completely immersive cinema experience is provided exclusively by VOX Cinemas.

VOX Cinemas holds the exclusive rights to IMAX and 4DX in Beirut, and additional locations for both concepts are under consideration.

On the 22nd of March 2016, VOX Cinemas celebrated its third year of achievements and success. On this occasion, an event was held in partnership with Warner Bros. for the premiere of the superhero movie “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”. Many attended the event, including local media, business partners, VIP guests, and VOX Cinemas’ clients.
