City Centre malls invite aspiring creative minds from the community to participate in this unique art workshop

Oman: Majid Al Futtaim’s City Centre malls are setting out to unite renowned and aspiring artists in the influential art project called The Art of ‘C’. The Sultanate’s two leading lifestyle destinations have partnered with the Omani Society for Fine Arts (OSFA) to host an interactive art platform in the form of a mentored workshop that will take place at the two malls starting 19th of October. In celebration of the 44th National Day of Oman, 44 ‘C’ sculptures will be placed in key areas in City Centre Muscat and City Centre Qurum, and used as blank canvases for invited artists to transform into wondrous masterpieces.

The Art of C campaign is a tribute to the iconic City Centre logo. Large and small ‘C’ sculptures will serve as blank canvases, placed in main areas of both City Centre Qurum and City Centre Muscat.  Embracing the themes of local culture and society, renowned Omani artists from the OFSA including Anwar bin Khamis Sonia, Abdulmajid bin Karoh Al Baloushi, Iftikhar bint Hamdoun Al Badawi, Yousef bin Ali Al Nahwi, Thanaa bint Saeed Al Humaidi, Zahra bint Mohammed Al Jamali, Mohammed bin Shaml Al Baloushi  together with emerging artists from the community will work in harmony to create celebrated pieces of ‘C’ artworks.  Residents interested in participating can register to win their coveted spot in The Art of C workshop through an open submission by logging on www.citycentremuscat.com and www.citycentrequrum.com

Husam Al Mandhari, Senior Mall Manager of City Centre Muscat, said, “Majid Al Futtaim endeavours to excel in creating great moments for all, and we are pleased to partner with the Omani Society for Fine Arts in this innovative project. Oman has gradually become the hub for art and culture in the region and the City Centres are pleased to showcase the calibre of our local talent, through an interactive campaign that the entire community can enjoy.”

The Art of C workshop will be inaugurated on October 19th with a formal ceremony to welcome the renowned Omani artists and the selected emerging artists who will participate in the workshop. For the next 9 days, guests to City Centre Qurum and City Centre Muscat will be treated to a visually stunning atmosphere as the many ‘C’ sculptures transform into their intended masterpieces, symbolizing an array of styles and emotions. Participating artists are free to dabble with any material in their embellishments, whether it be paint, mirror, or gems. The final Closing Ceremony on October 30th will celebrate the final, inspired pieces of ‘C’ artworks as a symbol of community, with a jury panel from the OFSA rewarding the most three creative pieces.

Watfa Humaid Al Harthy, Senior Mall Manager of City Centre Qurum, said, “The Art of C is a commemorative workshop that aims to showcase the talent of both professional and emerging artists. As a community initiative, we are offering the chance for all talented residents to explore their creative sides by registering with the Omani Society for Fine Arts for the chance to participate in this inspiring event.”

Throughout the art extravaganza, one large ‘C’ will be placed in the center of each mall for celebrities and dignitaries to handwrite their messages/wishes and signature for His Majesty Sultan Qaboos in celebration of the 44th National Day of Oman.
