MAF Dalkia signs Facility Maintenance Agreement

06 Apr 2011
signing contract

Sharjah Department of Civil Aviation signed an agreement with MAF Dalkia whereby the latter will provide maintenance works to all facilities of the Airport. These services will include not only the multi-technical services, such as electrical, mechanical, plumbing and civil works, but also the very specialized maintenance for the airfield systems and equipment that includes the navigation aids, radio communication, airfield lighting systems and the runway civil works. MAF Dalkia teams will focus on the delivery of services with an environment, quality and health & safety mindset.

MAF Dalkia – which was established in 2002 as a joint venture between the Majid Al Futtaim Group and Dalkia, a European leader in energy services – has been recognized for its expertise in energy and facilities management. This is the first aviation-related contract for MAF Dalkia, who will leverage the expertise that Dalkia has in managing and operating facilities worldwide.

The Agreement was signed at the Department’s headquarters in the presence of H.E. Eng. Abdulwahab Mohammed Khalfan Al Roomi, Director General of Department of Civil Aviation Sharjah, and Alexandre Mussallam, Chief Executive Officer of MAF Dalkia.

H.E. Abdulwahab M. Al Roomi said, ‘Signing the agreement reflects Sharjah International Airport’s keen interest to keep and maintain all its facilities, including service and technical facilities and operate efficiently round the clock. No doubt, the agreement will help the Airport’s Engineering Department to function properly amidst rapidly growing movement of passengers, airplanes and airfreight and the Airport’s high rates during the recent years. This requires an effective maintenance department that assumes its functions accurately and professionally’.

He said that the agreement would be effective for three years with annual assessment of MAF Dalkia’s maintenance operations, which allows ongoing assessment of MAF Dalkia and, subsequently, necessary maintenance as required.

He praised MAF Dalkia’s wide experience in this field and expressed his confidence in the company’s high performance and efficient staff. He pointed out that MAF Dalkia would  be a significant asset that would help maintain the high-class level of service of Sharjah International Airport. The Engineering Department will efficiently assume its other growing duties.

He added that the Engineering Department would be a key department that is entrusted with many significant duties to ensure public safety in the Airport, particularly as there are necessary technical issues that directly affect the safety of airplanes and staff in all departments of the Airport. Such equipment and devices should function efficiently and be subject to periodical ongoing maintenance.

‘We are pleased to sign this agreement with Sharjah International Airport, the most ancient airport in the region. We will provide our distinguished experience and services to the Airport in order to maintain the Airport’s leading position on the local, regional and international levels. We will perform our works to the full satisfaction of the Department, which we would like to thank for its confidence and selecting us to carry out this project’, said Mr. Alexandre Mussallam, CEO of MAF Dalkia.
