Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas Announces AED 1 Billion Investment in VOX Cinemas to Attract another 50 million Customers by 2020

Dubai: Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas, the dedicated cinema arm of Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa, has announced it has significantly increased its investment in the VOX Cinemas business from an initial AED 750 million announced in March 2014 to a total of AED 1 billion. The funds will facilitate the ongoing enhancement of existing cinemas in current markets, whilst supporting the company’s expansion plans to open new locations in existing and new MENA markets, to attract a further 50 million customers over the next five years.

 Since opening its first Cinema in Ajman City Centre launched in 1999, VOX Cinemas has grown to be the region’s largest cinema exhibitor, holding the coveted position as the number one highest grossing cinema in each of the markets in which it operates. Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas continues to deliver an outstanding performance in the MENA region, posting a 50% growth in VOX Cinema admissions from January to April 2015 in comparison to the same period in 2014.

 Complementing the 129 screens present across the UAE, Oman and Lebanon, the company has now opened its 10^th VOX Cinema in the UAE and the 13^th VOX Cinema in the region at Burjuman Mall in Dubai this weekend. The new VOX Cinema boasts 14 screens including four luxurious VOX GOLD screens, 1 VOX MAX big screen experience giving audiences the big wide screen cinema experience and one VOX Kids theatre for private parties and children’s events.
