Simon Azzam Heads Majid Al Futtaim Properties Communities Business Unit

Dubai - Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa, announces the appointment of Simon Azzam as the Chief Executive Officer of its Communities Business Unit at Majid Al Futtaim - Properties. Simon joined the company on 1^st of January 2014.

George Kostas, Chief Executive Officer, Majid Al Futtaim - Properties, which holds a portfolio of 17 shopping malls, 11 hotels and three mixed-use communities in MENA, said: "Simon is a strong addition to our team as we seek to further diversify our business and grow our master-planned communities portfolio. With over two decades of experience in both the UAE and the broader MENA region, his knowledge of the local market, attention to local consumer trends and desires coupled with his leadership skills will greatly enhance our existing team. I have no doubt he will play an instrumental role during our next phase of growth."

Simon brings with him a wealth of experience in the region, most recently as CEO of Bloom Properties, a large mixed-use development business based in Abu Dhabi with projects spanning Abu Dhabi and Iraq.

Previous to that, he was the CEO of Union Properties PJSC, a large listed development company where he spent twenty three years. Simon played an instrumental role in growing the company into one of the city's leading property development businesses with signature projects including Motor City, Index Tower, Ritz Carlton DIFC and Green Community and Uptown Mirdif.
