More than 180 employees from Majid Al Futtaim took part in the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon event on Friday January 24th, and triumphantly finished among the top 100 out of 785 teams that entered the event.

Muhammad Kamran Baig took on the challenge of the full marathon for the first time and finished the 42kms in just over five hours, despite suffering an injury towards the final stages of the race. Abdallah Harrati was the highest placed Majid Al Futtaim runner, finishing in 15th position in the 10km race, ahead of almost 8000 other runners. Abdullah completed the distance in a lightning time of 32:14 and is sure to pick up more accolades in future events.

Not only were the results impressive, but staff participation was also outstanding. Speaking at the event, Ibrahim Al Zubi, Head of Sustainability at Majid Al Futtaim Properties, said: "Three years ago we started with 1 employee taking part, today we have 186. These figures demonstrate the success of the sustainability efforts at Majid Al Futtaim as we strive to improve the wellbeing of our staff and increase participation in healthy and motivational initiatives."

The Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon event, which included a full 42km marathon, a 10km road race, and a 3km fun run, attracted almost 30,000 participants. The route took the participants past many of the city's iconic buildings such as the Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Mosque, Madinat Jumeirah and Union House, before reaching the finish line on Umm Suqeim Road just before Dubai Police Academy.
