Majid Al Futtaim Ventures Announces Longterm

Majid Al Futtaim Ventures, the growth engine responsible for some of the region’s most innovative concepts, has announced its long-term commitment to and partnership with the Elderly Nursing Home- Ajman, a centre founded in association with the UAE Ministry of Social Affairs. The collaboration was announced at a press conference hosted at the nursing home earlier today and attended by: Fawzia Taresh, director of the Family Development Department of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Laila Amin Al Zaruni from the Elderly Nursing Home - Ajman and senior representatives from Majid Al Futtaim Ventures including Fareda Abdulla, Vice President, Human Resources and Sabra Thani, Commercial & Communications Director; who reiterated their support for the centre as part of the company’s community affairs focus.

“Caring for the elderly is deeply engrained in UAE culture, and partnering with the Elderly Nursing Home - Ajman and the UAE Ministry of Social Affairs allows us to extend these shared values to its members,” said Ahmed Ismail, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Ventures. “Our aim is to provide long-term support of the Elderly Nursing Home - Ajman and provide an opportunity for our employees to actively live the Group’s key principles of caring always and respect. Celebrating the occasion of 41st UAE National Day, Majid Al Futtaim Ventures and seniors from the Elderly Nursing Home - Ajman symbolized this partnership by planting 41 Union Trees in support of the initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Together, the trees were placed on the grounds of the nursing home, promoting public and private bonds within the community and representing the beginning of a fruitful, long-term relationship between Majid Al Futtaim Ventures and Elderly Nursing Home - Ajman.

Manager of Elderly Nursing Home – Ajman, Laila Amin Al Zaruni, commended the partnership with MAF Ventures, and said: ‘’We hope that this partnership will develop the services and care offered to the elderly, and expand it to align with the endeavors of the country and the Ministry of Social Affairs to enhance the wellbeing of the elderly. On the occasion of the country's 41st National Day, Elderly Nursing Home – Ajman would like to congratulate President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council, Rulers of Emirates, on the occasion, wishing our country prosperity and development. Seniors from the Elderly Nursing Home – Ajman and Majid Al Futtaim Ventures planted Union Trees in support of the initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.”

The Elderly Nursing Home - Ajman is a facility dedicated to the well-being of the community’s elderly population and provides in-patient and out-patient services such as physiotherapy, social services and psychiatric care. In addition to the Ajman facility, they also oversee the operations of two nursing homes in Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah.

Care for the UAE’s elderly population is a key issue for the country’s health authorities, and Majid Al Futtaim Ventures hopes to raise awareness around the need to nurture and respect the country’s older generation. According to the UAE’s Ministry of Health, the number of Emiratis aged 60 years old or more has increased by 22 percent in five years, from 32,400 in 2005 to about 39,400 in 2010, with an estimate that the UAE’s elderly will exceed 47,000 by 20201.
