Olympic Snowboarder Launches Dubai Edition Of

Amateur snowboarders had a chance to impress the judges with their skills on the alpine slopes of Ski Dubai on May 27th 2011

Dubai, UAE: Ski Dubai was chosen to host one of the most popular global snowboarding events, as the region’s premier indoor skiing and snowboarding destination. On 27th of May 2011, Danny Kass, two-time Olympic snowboarding silver medalist brought the adrenaline charged “Grenade Games” to Dubai for the first time in the Middle East. After the runaway success of the Grenade Games in the international arena, Danny Kass and his team of snowboarding pro-riders challenged the UAE’s snowboarding athletes and members.

The Grenade Games Dubai tested the limits of amateur snowboarders through a set of challenges aimed at allowing contestants to showcase their abilities and mastery of the slopes. The challenges included Dual Slalom, gravity defying snowboarding tricks and best jibs, amongst others. Participants were judged by Danny Kass and his panel of snowboarding athletes. Contestants also had the chance to be guided by professional experts and saw them in action performing stunts and sharing some of the tips and tricks of the trade.

“The Grenade Games have become an iconic competition where aspiring snowboarders can demonstrate their skills and also learn from expert snowboarders. By bringing these games to the Middle East we wanted to give hopeful snowboarders the chance to prove to the world that just because one lives in the desert, doesn’t mean one can’t have the chance to excel in a sport that is typically associated with a cooler climate,” commented Arnaud Palu, Chief Executive Officer, Majid Al Futtaim Leisure & Entertainment.

The Grenade games were held at Ski Dubai on May 27th 2011.
